What Moves Us?

What moves us?

We have been seriously blessed with strong monastic allies from the Tibetan Buddhism Tradition. Many of you have felt the emotional devotion with the drawing and dissolution of Sand Mandalas, experienced moments of stillness with their chanting meditations, and sensed the power of transforming Puja ceremonies.

In August and September 2017, the Drepung Gomang Monk Tour added Santa Barbara community to its focus. It was a good time to prepare the community for what was to come. We also relished the Green Tara mandala orchestrated at the Masonic Lodge in SLO melding with ceremonies of solidarity with Charlottesville. During the total eclipse, Paso Robles was not obscured as the timely presence of Medicine Buddha aligned for a Peace week. Amidst the beginning of the school year, Cuesta College received teaching for Peace and Unity as they used the Mandala to cultivate an understanding of unity. And reflecting on insightful art and dialogue Alan Hancock College gave sanctuary for teachings of loving kindness.

While they came for us we now have our own opportunities to steep ourselves in the practices, bring clarity to our lives, and humbly address the gifts that we have been given from the Drepung Monks.

The extensive meditation teaching offered by Robert Sachs in the practice of Medicine Buddha is currently being offered @EarthTones . Meditation is a vessel to help shift your consciousness, dedicate your efforts (work, prayer, creativity) and bring a depth of healing to your journey. Each week, (Wednesdays at 6:30) he guides an understanding of the history and practice of the ancient work, the philosophy of curative power of the mind, and the capacity to build a true connection of your efforts with the profound energy field of loving kindness.
